Classroom training is divided into three levels of competency:
Level 1: Elder Pal
Elder Pals provide companionship, safety and support for individuals who need minimal assistance with the activities of daily living, such as assistance with bathing, dressing, walking, light housekeeping, meal preparation and running errands. 25 hour course. Student completes a written examination and demonstrates competency in skills.
Level 2: Personal Care Assistant
PCAs provide hands-on personal care for individuals needing minimal to moderate assistance. In addition to EP skills, they work with the individual to achieve the goal of maximum independence with family or professional supervision. 25 hour course. Student completes a written examination and demonstrates competency in skills.
Level 3: Home Care Assistant HCAs
provide hands-on personal care for individuals needing moderate to maximum assistance. In addition to EP and PCA skills, they perform uncomplicated nursing/therapy procedures under the direction of a medical professional in the home setting. Also, these graduates can perform routine nursingrelated services in hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies and other setting under the supervision of a licensed nurse. 50 hour course. Student completes a written examination and demonstrate competency in skills.

Each Level of training includes a skill demonstration DVDmore than 60 skills and three hours of “watch and do” skill training in state-of-the-art DVD format! Allows students to go directly to any skill and review as often as they wish. Excellent production values and a personalized approach that instills respect and compassion for elders as well as teaching competence.
